Begin

Begin

You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book, and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence! You know every step I will take before my journey even begins. Psalm 139: 3 -4 TPT

Lately, I have heard the word begin over and over again. Sometimes a word resonates in our hearts, but we don’t know why. So, I decided to look up the definition.

Begin: To have an original or first existence. To take rise, to commence.

How often do we despise the beginning? We can talk about getting outside of our box and doing something new, but that will mean we are going to have to begin. To start a new journey sounds exciting,  but when you have already started down the road of life,  does that really mean that we are going to an entirely new road? Not really, what it does speak to is that there are some things in our lives currently that will have to die, probably several things that will need to die. Those things could be a habit, mindset, or maybe just some clothes that aren't coming with you on this journey. You will have to leave these things before you begin your journey. That is the part of begin that is scary, taking the first step.

The assertion of life is that we are each on a journey, the story of our lives. Well, I believe we are on a journey back to the love we knew from the beginning.  That journey will require us to begin again, and again, and again. It’s ok, they aren’t do-overs,  they are just new streams along the river, that leads each of us to the deep of the ocean.

You see, from the moment we are born, it is all a choice. It’s a choice to take that first step as a baby. I think as babies before we know about all the risks we are really taking with that first step, we don’t care. We just want a way to move quicker and faster. But as we grow up and understand risk and failure, that is when we freeze. We find security in something other than God and we allow ourselves to stay safe or should comfortable even.  Instead of leaping, jumping and flying to the next. It’s time to fly, it's time to soar, this is our opportunity to dig deeper into re-discovering our first love. This is your chance to see just where your journey will take you. Dig in, but don’t stay in that one place, keep going because Love is on the way

Here are some questions to ask yourself as you begin:

1. What is something new that I am at the beginning of?

2. To begin on this new journey, what do I need to let go of?

3. What is one way I can dig deeper (go deeper) with God?
